JSA was founded by Richard Jackson and Paul Foster in 2009 in order to help hospitals improve OR efficiency and provide a level of service that cannot be offered by any other surgical assisting solution.

JSA was created to fulfill a vision of how an OR surgical assistant program should be run. The ideal surgical assistant program needs:

  • A strong leader to orchestrate the aspects of the OR that are not the responsibility of the surgeon.
  • To effectively use all of its resources to promote patient safety and to reduce the number of sentinel events.
  • A business process approach that improves efficiency.
  • To allow schedulers, support staff and administrators to focus their time on the surgeon and the patient.
  • To ensure a consistent level of service from surgical assistants.

A team of experts was assembled with decades of experience in OR efficiency, scheduling, staffing, recruiting and billing who have successfully designed and implemented this practice management approach.

To date, JSA surgical assistants are providing services to more than 20 hospitals, working with over 150 surgeons.

JSA's Hedgehog Concept:

JSA seeks to deliver clinical and service excellence by providing the best clinicians in sustainable partnership with its hospital clients.
